Ethnobotany

The study of the interaction between plants and humans is ethnobotany, from ‘ethno’ (the study of people) and ‘botany’ (the study of plants). It is an interdisciplinary subject which can also involve elements of anthropology, human geography, biological conservation, pharmacology, and nutrition.

The study of ethnobotany is of great significance for the aid it gives to a proper understanding of the interrelations of all the several traits and of the whole material and intellectual culture of a people in its entirety.
